The Tax Debt Detective
A Question We Are Asked Weekly

Do You Help People With Tax Debt Over $250,000?

Yes.

In fact, we wrote the book on it.

High-balance IRS and Franchise Tax Board defense for California business owners and professionals. $250,000 to $1 million and beyond.

§ 01The Short Answer

At $250,000, the file changes hands.

Most tax firms are built for the $30,000 problem. The payment plan, the single notice, the routine case.

You do not have a routine case.

At $250,000 and above, the file changes hands. The IRS assigns a human being instead of a mail machine. California can reach past your paycheck into your receivables, your escrow, and the businesses that pay you. The rules change, the standards change, and the cost of a wrong move changes with them.

That case is the center of this practice.

§ 02The Facts, Plainly

What you are actually facing.

A short, honest list. No theatrics required, because the facts carry their own weight.

  • 01
    IRS

    Revenue Officers

The IRS assigns human agents to significant balances, with authority over liens, levies, and seizures.

  • 02
    FTB

    A Second Collection System

California operates its own liens and withholding orders — capable of taking 100% of available funds up to the balance due.

  • 03
    FTB

    The Top 500 List

The state publishes its 500 largest delinquencies twice a year: name, address, amount, and professional license.

  • 04
    FTB

    Entity Suspension

A suspended corporation or LLC cannot legally do business or defend itself in court.

  • 05
    IRS

    Passport Revocation

Federal tax debt above the annually adjusted threshold is certified to the State Department, which can deny or revoke a passport.

None of that is a scare line. Every item is drawn from the agencies’ own published rules, and every item has a documented response path.

§ 03Who Calls Us

Successful people, carrying something heavy alone.

DoctorsDentistsAttorneysContractorsReal Estate BrokersInsurance ProfessionalsConsultantsBusiness Owners

Business owners whose companies kept growing while the tax problem grew quietly beside them. Successful people, still producing income, still employing people, still keeping up appearances.

If that is you, you are not a deadbeat.

You are a business owner with a six-figure operations problem, and it has a documented resolution process.

§ 04How We Work

Triage. Stabilize. Rescue.

STEP 01

Triage

Diagnose the danger first. Map both agencies, both timelines, both threats.

STEP 02

Stabilize

Stop the bleeding. Preserve the business, the accounts, the license.

STEP 03

Rescue

Negotiate only after the case is ready. Never a day sooner.

No settlement projections before diagnosis. No “pennies on the dollar” promises. Anyone quoting you a settlement number before mapping both agencies is telling you what you want to hear.

We accept a limited number of high-balance cases per quarter. The diagnosis tells us both whether yours should be one of them.

§ 05 · The Book
The Two-Front War book cover by Carlos Samaniego, EA, NTPI Fellow — surviving $250,000 to $1 million or more in IRS and California tax debt

Fourteen chapters on exactly what you are facing.

The two collection systems and how they cross fire. The Revenue Officer. The payroll tax trap that follows owners home personally. California’s public list and its license machinery. The non-filer’s trap and what the government files when you do not.

Why ordinary tax relief breaks down at this altitude, the seven mistakes that destroy leverage, and the exact sequence that protects the business while the debt gets resolved.

§ 06About Carlos

He has been where you are sitting.

Carlos Samaniego is an Enrolled Agent and NTPI Fellow in Redlands, California, founder of Tax Debt Consultants LLC, known as The Tax Debt Detective.

After the 2008 crash he spent years hiding from his own six-figure IRS problem before a former IRS agent helped him face it. Before tax practice he spent eleven years as an EMT.

The method in the book came from the ambulance: identify what can kill the patient first.

That is not a marketing line. That is the resume.
